Conservative Decompression Management with Functional Appliance in Pediatric Plexiform Ameloblastoma

Ameloblastoma is an infiltrative benign neoplasm in the mandible or maxilla that locally aggressive with rare metastasizing capacity. This lesion most common tumor of odontogenic epithelium. However, its occurrence children low, representing only 10–15% all reported ameloblastoma cases. In treating such neoplasms pediatric patients, preservation vital structures as inferior alveolar nerve (IAN), deciduous teeth, tooth buds, and nerves proper post-operative management to maintain normal mandibular growth imperative. A five-year-old boy painless swelling displaced teeth right was diagnosed plexiform ameloblastoma. Instead a radical approach, patient treated conservatively using decompression routine irrigation along long-term follow-up. Functional appliance treatment provided Frankel preserve induce jaw. After eight years, there no recurrence ameloblastoma, observed. Pediatric should be conservative approach considering important anatomic further growth. Moreover, functional therapy considered integral part for other tumors mandible.
